Building Companies with Friends
If you’re going to start a company, might as well do it with your best friends. I’ve been around seed-stage startups enough to find patterns in cofounders, and one interesting thread I’ve seen in the highest performing teams is that more often than not the cofounders are very close friends (of oftentimes even identical twins, which is a fascinating rabbit hole, iykyk)
The thing with companies is that the odds are so slim, stress is high, and the timeline is so long that to have any chance of success you have to love it.
One of the best ways to love it is to work with your best friends. As both a founder and investor I’ve found this quite important for success of anything pre pmf.
This month Daniel and I are teaming up on something new ™️ and I’m excited just to work with an old friend on some new software, and very glad we can do it without the pressures of the last thing.
