Like everyone else, I’m learning a lot about macroeconomics, currencies, and trade wars. Very interesting topic.
Today I learned:
The US is a net-exporter of food and petroleum products, meaning, politically we can sustain trade wars much longer than our counterparties
Although tarriffs are normally inflationary, in this case because the economy will slow so much they’re actually deflationary
Powell will likely have to print money later this year
Rates going lower isn’t all bad, it helps us refinance expiring debt over the next few months
Stocks are on sale, and it’s worth owning things you like owning
I’m sure I’ll learn a lot more in the next few days. It’s a very interesting time to be alive.
